2025 Annual Outreach & Women Empowerment Report

The Lift a Woman Initiative successfully held its Annual Outreach and Women Empowerment Programme on 24th December 2025 at Ebele Achina. By the grace of God, the event was a remarkable success. A total of 603 women were supported during the outreach. Each beneficiary received the following items to take home: 10kg bag of rice 6kg bag of beans One loaf of bread One malt drink A packaged meal with water The programme was well organized and efficiently coordinated. The event was made possible through the generous support of our co-sponsors, namely: Budhrani Charitable Trust Mrs. Patricia Emefiele Dr. Raymond Obieri, Chairman/CEO, Harmony Trust and Investment Company Mr. Ugochukwu Mbah Mr. Kosi Mbah Justitia Attorneys Mr. Obinna Nwakpadolu In addition, the initiative extended special visits to elderly members of the community, during which 50kg bags of rice, beans, bread, and in some cases monetary support were provided. Overall, the programme procured 230 bags of 50kg rice at ₦60,000 per bag and 30 large bags of beans at ₦105,000 per bag. Two bags of rice were cooked and distributed alongside malt drinks and water. Children who accompanied their mothers, as well as a few men who attended, were also fed, although they were not included in the official attendance records. We give thanks to God for the support received from well-meaning individuals and organizations, and for their continued commitment to uplifting women over the years. Empowering Women Through Interest-Free Loans: A LIFT A WIDOW INITIATIVES Update 2024

I was on hand to help in interviewing some of our women that applied for the interest free trading loans under the LIFT A WIDOW INITIATIVES program. Out of about one hundred and thirty women shortlisted from their various Parishes, we were only able to accommodate about fifty of them due to pundits of funds. Some of them were referred to reapply for the October seasons loan, but fifteen women were disqualified outrightly for various reasons. They were given loans ranging from N100,000 to N500,000 about $50 to $350 dollars. We wish to appreciate our partners, Budharani Charitable Foundation for their contributions towards sustaining this project. I wish to appreciate Mr Obinna Nwakpadolu for all his sacrifices and for helping to sustain the momentum especially after the death of the President, Mrs Victoria Ezeoke
Lift A Widow's Agricultural Campaign for Self-Sustainability

Today, Lift A Widow held our quarterly meeting with a focus on agriculture. It was a significant moment that underscored our commitment to supporting widows. Through initiatives such as interest-free loans and comprehensive productivity training, we aim to empower them in their businesses. Our current endeavor is to launch an agricultural campaign aimed at achieving household self-sustainability in food and meat production. Witnessing the joy among these women is truly fulfilling. I am grateful to Barrister Chinwe Mbah for entrusting me with this opportunity to serve.
LAW-I Outing Achieves Milestone Success with New Structure and Seasonal Loans Distribution 15th September, 2024

The outing of Lift a Woman Initiatives LAW-I on the 15th of September, 2024 was a great success with a substantial turnout of women. Here are the key points from our meeting: 1. We introduced a new structure that will take effect immediately after the meeting. 2. All members will need to complete a registration form, which will be provided at their respective parishes during parish meetings. 3. New members will be required to participate for one year and undergo screening before receiving any loan. 4. Members who default on payments and fail to respond to follow-up calls within 14 days will be blacklisted until the ban is lifted by the meeting. 5. We will undertake annual projects focused on our area of interest for women as we intend to go into massive agriculture. 6. The Idegwu day Uniform for those in the village donated by Bar Chinwe Ezenwa Mbah 100 pieces of the 6yards Ankara and Mr Alphonsus Ejidike 50pieces were distributed. In a heartwarming display of community support, the chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Prince Chibueze Ofobuike, extended a generous hand to the Lift A Widow initiative, founded by Barr. Chinwe Ezenwa Mbah, which aims at uplifting the lives of widows in the Achina community, Aguata LGA. During his visit, impressed by the dedication and the positive impact of the initiative on the widows who have diligently repaid their zero-interest loans for the past five years to access larger amounts, Prince Ofobuike contributed N500,000 to further the interest-free loan program. This initiative has been a beacon of hope, providing essential support to these resilient women, enabling them to thrive despite their challenging circumstances. The visit was not just a gesture of financial support but a significant acknowledgment of the private sector's role in social welfare, particularly in empowering women within the community. Obinna Nwakpadolu played a pivotal role in coordinating this successful engagement, which not only highlighted the collective effort towards societal betterment but also reinforced the importance of community-based interventions in fostering sustainable development. The organization, dedicated to supporting widows, single mothers, and the less privileged, distributed essential food items across five different locations through its various branches. This act of generosity, orchestrated during a challenging time as the Founder, Chinwe Ezenwa-Mbah Esq, was bereaved, was made possible through the selfless efforts of Mr. Obinna Nwakpadolu and Mrs. Victoria Ezeoke. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for their sacrifices in ensuring the seamless and successful distribution. All glory to God for the opportunity to bring joy and sustenance to those in need.
Budhrani Charitable Trust's N1.5 Million Seasonal and Trading Loan Initiative

Third Quarter Meeting of Lift a Widow Initiatives (LAW-I)

The third quarter meeting of Lift a Widow Initiatives (LAW-I) was held on September 24th, 2023, with 65 members in attendance. The President expressed gratitude to the members for their overwhelming turnout, love, and solidarity during the funeral of the late Mrs. Irene Ezenwa, mother of our Patroness, Chinwe Ezenwa-Mbah Esq. Appreciation was also extended to the Budhrani Charitable Trust for their continued support of the Interest-Free Loan project. During the meeting, it was noted that a new parish head needed to be elected due to the consistent absence of the current leader, and members from the parish were tasked with addressing the matter. Additionally, seasonal loans were approved for members who had expressed interest and successfully completed interviews. A total of N1,050,000 (One Million and Fifty Thousand Naira) was disbursed, and recipients were encouraged to invest wisely and adhere to the repayment schedule. The meeting concluded with a motion for adjournment followed by a closing prayer.

Empowering Women: Impactful Support from BUDHRANI CHARITABLE TRUST

In April this year, we reported on distributing a one million Naira donation from *BUDHRANI CHARITABLE TRUST* through the Lift A Widow Initiative. The amount funded loans for women in our program. The trust's team studied our initiative and was impressed, releasing an additional #500,000 to our Loan Program. We quickly interviewed and funded women previously unable to secure loans due to lack of funds. About six women received a total of #670,000 in this latest disbursement. With gratitude, we thank BUDHRANI CHARITABLE TRUST for transforming businesses with interest-free loans. Your caring gesture will be cherished, and blessings are wished upon your team. Lift a Widow Initiatives Year-End Event and Loan Scheme Review

On December 24th, 2022, Lift a Widow Initiatives hosted an event with women who have benefited from the organization's loan program. During the event, the performance of the loan scheme was reviewed, and it was found that the women had achieved impressive results. The review highlighted the success of the program, but also underscored the need to secure additional funding to expand the organization's capital base. This would enable the initiative to offer loans to more women and increase loan amounts to keep pace with inflation.
Lift a Widow Interest-Free Loan Program for 2022 Kicks Off with 23 Beneficiaries

The Lift a Widow interest-free loan program for 2022 has officially begun, with 23 women receiving their loans. After being screened by the selection committee, these women were awarded amounts ranging from N100,000 ($200) to N200,000 ($400). Additional beneficiaries will receive their loans in March. The plan is to distribute loans to 20 to 25 women each month until September. In October, seasonal loans will be provided to businesswomen, with loan amounts ranging from N300,000 ($600) to N500,000 ($1,000). This marks the first round of interest-free loans for 2022, aimed at empowering widows and helping them grow their businesses.

Seasonal Interest-Free Loan Distribution to Widows by Lift a Woman Initiatives

Lift a Widow Initiatives has distributed another round of interest-free seasonal loans to widows, aimed at boosting their businesses during the festive period. These loans, ranging from N100,000 to N300,000 per person, are to be repaid by January 31st, 2021, to make room for loans to regular beneficiaries who receive assistance over a period of 9 months to 1 year. Due to funding constraints, only 10 women were selected for the seasonal loan this year, though more qualified applicants were available. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and the End SARS protest, we are proud to report a 90% repayment compliance rate from the women who received loans earlier in the year. Roof Repair Assistance for Elderly Widow After Windstorm

Lift a Widow assisted this elderly widow by repairing her roof, which had been blown away by a windstorm just three days ago. She had been forced to take shelter in her mud kitchen, which was also leaking. The weather was extremely cold, and we couldn't allow her to stay there for even a moment. In continuation of the Presentation of interest free loans to widows and single mothers in our "Loan for trading scheme", these set were given N50,000 each for period of one year. They have three months moratorium before they start paying back N5,000 every month for 20months. We have recorded 100% success with pay back so far.
A meeting of the Presidents and Secretaries of all the branches of Lift a Widow Initiatives

This is the meeting of the Presidents and Secretaries of all the branches of Lift a Widow Initiatives. They also double as the finance and loan implementation committee. It is also at this meeting that loans are given out to the successful applicants from the widows and single mothers. They are in three categories of N 50,000. N 100,000 and N 200,000. Payback period is six months to 1 year after a moratorium period of 3 months. So far, about twenty four women have benefited.
Lecture to Women on Bookkeeping and Business Management

We conducted a lecture on bookkeeping and business management for women, during which some participants shared their success stories from the loan scheme provided by the Lift a Widow Initiative. One woman expressed how the loan enabled her to pay the school fees for her two children with ease, while others highlighted how it helped expand their businesses. The meeting, which took place on December 24th, 2019, in Achina, was attended by 222 women, including widows and single mothers.

We registered 240 widows attendees and 50 women and children. These women their husbands are still alive but they claim they are jobless. Money has been set aside towards giving at least 30 women interest free loan to trade during the year.

This partnership aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals facing hearing challenges by offering them the gift of sound and better communication. The initiative strives to improve their social inclusion, educational and professional opportunities, and overall well-being, ensuring that these individuals have the tools they need to thrive in their communities.
Free All-Round Health Screening and Medication
